Grade school for your pup! In this training, your dog will be introduced to basic obedience. This program is designed to build upon foundation games played during puppy training and to jump-start common household commands. This introductory level of Day Academy also includes structured play time to evaluate your dog’s play style. If your dog is new to Harborside, then we will need at least one private lesson as an evaluation to determine readiness.

Time for middle school! This second level of Day Academy is designed for dogs who already have an introductory training background with Harborside. The purpose of this program is to strengthen your dog’s understanding of previously introduced commands and to prove their abilities through the addition of distractions. This is also the level at which dogs may start going on field trips for further practice.

Your dog is ready for college! This third level of drop-off training includes the addition and introduction of more advanced training and equipment for both you and your dog.
Day Academy Add-On Days
Open to graduates from any level of Day Academy
$130
per session
Available 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday-Friday
This program consists of single drop-off days agreed upon between the owner and the trainer when your dog will come in to refresh the obedience training they received during their previous enrollment period(s) of Day Academy. The owner may schedule these additional days of training as needed in order to receive continued assistance with maintaining and furthering their dog’s progress.
These training days are structured similarly to an individual day of the Day Academy package. Activities will be based on your dog’s skill level and may range from solo training sessions and group training to group play and potential field trips.
Private Lessons
Any level and age welcome
$130
per session
This individual training is designed just for you and your dog to help work toward your personal training goals. We recommend weekly lessons to lay the foundation for obedience and to cover topics such as household management. After that point, we will often start scheduling for every other week or aim to enroll your dog in one of the drop-off programs based on your goals.
We also have more advanced options available to owners who wish to dedicate themselves to a higher level or to add distractions after a few months of private training.

Day Academy Level 3
The third level of Day Academy is primarily intended to introduce dogs with previous training at Harborside to the versatile tool of the remote training collar. We use the “Mini Educator” for most dogs and will use the drop-off training days of this program to condition dogs to the e-collar. The trainer will work to find your dog’s working level each day in order to provide the owner with this information during the first weekly lesson. The first week will also be used to teach the owner the functions of the collar and remote and to answer additional questions.
The second and third weeks of the program will be used to establish the e-collar in your dog’s mind as another communication tool from the handler and to apply its use to common commands they learned in previous levels of Day Academy. This program includes a private lesson for each week to help the owner feel confident in their understanding and usage of the remote e-collar.
